Trainers and trainees begin the 4-day event with smiles

The UP Population Institute (UPPI) in collaboration with the Demographic Research and Development Foundation (DRDF) recently conducted a four-day “Training on Data Analysis using IBM SPSS” from July 30 through August 2 at the UPPI Computer Laboratory II.

Fourteen participants took part in the statistical software training, including 10 faculty members from the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) and four from various organizations. Sponsoring ASCOT was the University of the Philippines’ Village Base Station-Philippine-California Advanced Research Institute (VBTS-PCARI) Project. Trainers were UPPI faculty members namely Dr. Nimfa B. Ogena, Dr. Grace T. Cruz, Dr. Maria Midea M. Kabamalan, Prof. Maria Paz N. Marquez, Dr. Elma P. Laguna, and Prof. Michael C. Del Mundo.

Taking part in the closing ceremonies of the training in Day 4 were members of the VBTS-PCARI project and faculty members of the UP Department of Sociology namely Prof. Josephine Dionisio, Prof. John Andrew Evangelista, and Ms. Athena Charanne Pesto. Prof. Dionisio, Chair of the UP Department of Sociology, accompanied Dr. Kabamalan, UPPI Director, in handing out certificates of completion to the participants.
