Dr. Nimfa B. Ogena recently attended the Department of Education's (DepEd) 2019 National Festival of Talents (NFOT) in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on January 29-30 as test formulator for the Population Quiz (Pop Quiz) and judge for the On-the-Spot Skills Exhibition on Population and Development (PopDev).
Dr. Ogena served as Chairperson of the Board of Judges for the Pop Quiz. She was also a member of the Board of Judges for the PopDev debate, poster making, jingle making and singing contest for high school students as well as the “Kasaysayan, Heograpiya at Kultura ng Pilipinas” Quiz for Grade 4-6 pupils.
The NFOT is an annual event where the top talents of the country from elementary to high school gather for friendly competition across a range of activities in music, the performing arts and technical-vocational skills. This year's theme is “Celebrating Diversity through the performance of Talents and Skills for Sustainable inclusive Education” where the various rich cultures of the Philippines took center stage. Since the introduction of the NFOT in 2012, the DepEd has been inviting the UP Population Institute to send a faculty to serve as test formulator for the Pop Quiz and as judge for other PopDev-related competitions.
