UPPI welcomes new faculty member, Dr. J. Andres Ignacio
Jose Andres F. Ignacio, Ph.D.
The UP Population Institute (UPPI) is pleased to welcome Associate Professor Jose Andres Ignacio, Ph.D. in its faculty roster beginning 2nd Semester 2022-2023.
Dr. Ignacio was Planning Director and Geomatics Manager of the Environmental Science for Social Change, Inc. (ESSC), a Jesuit research and training institute that promotes environmental sustainability and social justice through the integration of scientific methodologies and social processes.
He finished his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Geography at the University of Namur, in Belgium in 2015. His areas of specialization include social dimensions of climate change and environmental sustainability as well as geospatial science.
Dr. Ignacio has over three decades of professional experience in natural resource assessment, environmental governance, and community-based resource management in the Philippines. He also has extensive research experience in social vulnerability assessment to climate change-induced hazards.
Dr. Ignacio is indeed a great addition to UPPI’s faculty team. His expertise on climate and environment will boost and widen the institute’s capacity to tackle pressing demographic and population issues.
