Nimfa B. Ogena

A professor at the UPPI since 2005, she completed her B.S. in Statistics at the University of the Philippines Manila in 1978 and her Master of Arts in Demography at the UPPI in 1984. She obtained a Diploma in International Relations and Development at the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague, Netherlands in 1986 and received her Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography at the Pennsylvania State University in 1994.

Prof. Ogena served as UPPI Director, Chairperson of the Demographic Research and Development Foundation (DRDF) and a Board Member of the Commission on Population (POPCOM) from 2002-2005. She also served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP), UP Diliman from 2006 to 2011.

From 2009-2015, she was Chairperson, Technical Working Group on Migration Statistics under the Technical Committee on Population and Housing, National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB). From 2015 onwards, Prof. Ogena has been serving as the Chairperson of the Inter-agency Committee on Migration Statistics of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Prof. Ogena is the Secretary-General of the Asian Population Association (2019-2021) and she was President of the Philippine Population Association (PPA) for three terms, i.e., 2002-2004, and 2008-2009.
