The UPPI Academic Excellence Award

The UP Population Institute (UPPI) is calling on alumni and friends to continue supporting the “UPPI Academic Excellence Award”, established in 2014 during the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of UPPI. The award aims to inspire UPPI students towards academic excellence.

For every semester, an awardee is selected from among UPPI students based on the General Weighted Average (GWA). For a student to qualify, he/she should have enrolled in a minimum of nine (9) units in the previous semester and with no incomplete grade. The student with the highest GWA gets the award. In case of a tie, the student enrolled in the highest number of units will be awarded the grant. In case of a second tie, the grant will be divided between or among the students with tied GWAs. The award comes with a certificate and a cash prize of $100.00.

There have been 15 recipients of the award: Joshua Mariano (MPOPS), Maria Rowena Campos (MPOPS), Klarriness Tanalgo (MPOPS), Jaycel Hurley (MPOPS), Denise Hyacinth Joy Musni (MADEM) x2, Alberto Marin (MADEM), Lyka Manglal-lan (MPOPS), Karlene Cabaraban (MADEM) x2, Sanny Afable (MADEM), Katrina Guanio (MPOPS), Jsydney Pascual (MPOPS), Anna Amalia Vibar (MPOPS), Maria Louissie Ynez Lavega (MPOPS), Jann Blair Salinas (MADEM), and the latest Leila Marie Magno (MPOPS) x2.
